Obituary:Memorial Candlelight Vigil Honoring Fallen NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller in Massapequa Park | Town of Oyster Bay

Jonathan Diller – In the aftermath of a tragic loss, the Town of Oyster Bay, along with County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Massapequa Park Village Mayor Daniel Pearl, announces a solemn event to commemorate the life and sacrifice of fallen NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller. Officer Diller, a resident of Massapequa Park, was fatally shot in the line of duty on March 25, 2024, during a routine traffic stop in Far Rockaway. In response to this heartbreaking event, a memorial candlelight vigil is set to take place on Wednesday, March 27th, at 7pm at Brady Park in Massapequa Park.

The vigil aims to bring together the community to honor Officer Diller’s memory and express gratitude for his dedicated service to public safety. Not only will it serve as a moment of remembrance, but it will also be a symbol of solidarity and support for Officer Diller’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino expresses profound condolences, emphasizing Officer Diller’s bravery and selflessness as he paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. Supervisor Saladino extends heartfelt sympathies to Officer Diller’s loved ones and underscores the importance of remembering his legacy of service.

As a gesture of respect and mourning, flags will be flown at half-staff across County, Town, and Village facilities. The vigil stands as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers like Officer Jonathan Diller, who courageously dedicate themselves to protecting their communities.
