Beloved Matriarch’s Legacy: A Bittersweet Farewell to Lois Taylor Bell Obituary

Lois Taylor Bell Obituary – Lois A. (Roberts) Taylor Bell, a beloved member of the Decatur community, passed away peacefully at her family residence on November 2, 2023, at the age of 85. Born in 1938 on the family farm between Lane and Weldon, IL, Lois was the cherished daughter of Franz A. “Pete” and Irma C. (Brennan) Roberts.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton, IL, with Scott Marsh officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Park Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Little Galilee Christian Assembly or the Maroa Christian Church, two institutions close to Lois’s heart.

Lois’s life was marked by love, family, and service. She was married to John “Bill” Taylor from 1955 to 1980 and later found love again with Allan Bell, whom she married in 1990. She is survived by her devoted husband Allan, her children Deanna Taylor Milanski and Terry Taylor, her stepchildren Amy Bell Calhoun and Jim Bell, as well as two unofficially adopted daughters, Vicky Dunaway Niles and Amanda Bruce Krodel. Additionally, Lois leaves behind a legacy of love in her numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step great-great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Debra Kay Taylor, her sisters Betty (Roberts) Rau and Floy (Roberts) Harmon, her brother Robert Roberts, and her brothers-in-law Alex Stogsdill, Gerald Rau, and David Arthur Harmon.

Throughout her life, Lois held various positions, but her favorite role was being a caregiver. She found immense joy in caring for her great-grandson Dylan Taylor and grandson Jacob Taylor’s book for his AMS company.

Lois’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Online condolences may be shared at
